About the Festival
Celebrating the Advent of Lord Krishna
Janmashtami marks the appearance of Lord Sri Krishna, celebrated with fasting, devotional singing, discourses on the Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam, and a midnight abhisheka ceremony. Devotees break their fast after midnight with maha-prasadam, having spent the day glorifying the Lord's pastimes.
As part of the Janmashtami season, ISKCON Dharmapuri also hosts the Heritage Fest — a cultural contest for school students celebrating India's devotional arts and traditions.
